I've put together an easy-to-follow guide to help you figure out your body type and play up those sexy parts so that you can get the most out of your outfits.
First we must determine what type of body you have. In general, women's bodies are divided into five shapes: pear, wedge, rectangle, apple, and hourglass.
Body Type: Pear
Celebrities who share your shape: Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera
Characteristics of a Pear: Bigger lower than upper body, hips are wider than your shoulders, flat stomach, smaller chest, slim upper body, slim arms.
Best Asset(s): Your flat stomach and slim upper body!
What you must do: Balance out hips, show off your waist!
Tips & Tricks:
- No full or clingy dresses!
- Wear boat neck tops (to balance shoulders with hips)
- Wear strapless dresses to show off those arms!
- Straight leg or boot cut jeans are best to minimize hips
- A-line skirts camouflage hips
- Avoid tops that hit at the waist (they accentuate hips and thighs)
- Wear light tops and dark bottoms
- Keep it simple on bottom, have fun with prints and colors on top
- Long blazers and tunics are your best friends
Body Type: Wedge

Characteristics of a Wedge: Wide upper body (shoulders, breasts), slim hips, thin legs.

Body Type: Apple

Characteristics of an Apple: Upper body is bigger than lower, sometimes larger middle, slim hips, large chest, broad shoulders.

Characteristics of an Hourglass: Equal upper and lower body, slim waist.

- Darker colors will always slim, while prints and brights draw attention
- Belting a dress or top will create the illusion of a slim waist
- When in doubt, go for a hemline of 2'' above your knee
- Wrap dresses flatter every body type
- Nude shoes create the illusion of a slimmer body and legs
