Per reader request, I wanted to do a "how to" in regards to styling animal prints from day to night. I wanted to include different types of clothing items (i.e. a dress and a regular tee shirt) so the versatility of the print could easily be seen. When I think of daytime looks, flats immediately come to mind, not to mention a more downplayed color scheme. This does not mean you need to wear boring flats! T-strap sandals come in endless varieties of embellished versions ranging from leather to metallics to brights! They are extremely comfortable, affordable, and can add some glam to any look.
In the first look, I wanted to show how you can wear a leather skirt and animal prints, and not look like you're going out on the town. As long as you pay attention to length, a leather skirt can be a nice addition to your work wardrobe.
In the night look for the same top, I added a pop of color by pairing the tee with some bright yellow shorts by J Crew and layering a rugged leather belt over it to put the look together. This look works well for chilly fall nights by throwing a biker-inspired leather jacket such as the one above that I bought a few years ago from Express. Strappy wedges give you height and comfort while adding to the "badass biker chick" look.
With the animal print dress, I took a simple midi-length sheath dress and tied it on the sides for a shorter look. With a dress this thin, it's easy to layer over top without adding bulk. I wanted to add a slim-fitting black tee for an urban vibe. I belted the look to pull it together, and wore embellished sandals to add some glam to match the sparkles in the tee. A fedora is perfect if you plan on doing some errands and don't want to take the time to fuss with your hair.
I've also styled animal prints here and here!
Hope you enjoyed this, and please let me know if there is anything you would like to see styled!
Pop of health/fitness: Day 4. I have lost 1 pound and my mother has lost 2. Seems as if having a steady and filling breakfast full of complex carbs has helped! I am not nearly as hungry as I have been in past weeks and I find myself not needing to snack at all between meals. One secret I have is that we recently purchased chocolate animal crackers (not the ones with frosting!) and we've been having a few if a sweet tooth hits after dinner. The elliptical workout went well and I plan to continue the same workout routine today!
love all of these looks! Seriously loving leopard print right now :)
