HiLo Colorblock

I think it's official- the "hi-lo" dress is this year's maxi. Originally I wasn't so sure about the style, but then tried on a few and fell absolutely in love! This particular one is only $24, and feels like silk. I'd even venture to say it's more comfy than pajamas! I purchased a black cotton skirt version a few weeks and and plan to wear it on the blog soon (and as soon as the weather warms up a bit!).

The cut of a hi-lo hem is very flattering. I like to wear mine at the natural waistline if a skirt, and with an empire waist if the style is in a dress. This way, if you're like me with larger hips and legs, the style is ultra-flattering. The hem itself is forgiving because it hits most women at a place on there leg where the leg starts to thin; thus creating an illusion of smaller legs and hips. Cool, huh?

Colorblocking is so simple with a dress like this that has two colors built right in! All you need to do is add a pop of color with some bright shoes and/or accessories and you've got a simple, yet unique look. This style trick is so simple, and it'll keep you from layering to achieve the look all summer long.

So what do you guys think of the hi-lo trend? Will you be trying it?
