Accessorizing a Shirtdress

  • Shirtdress from Thrifty Shoppe $4.50 (Calvin Klein) *Pop of value!
  • Necklace from Sassy Peacock $14
  • Waist belt from The Limited $20
  • Wedge sandals from Macy's $45 (Steve Madden)

Wearing white from head to toe is big this season, and accessorizing the look is really simple. Since summer is fast approaching, a pop of color is fun when wearing white, and looks chic too. I chose to accent this all white shirtdress with one of summer's most popular jewelry trends- turquoise. When mixed with coral/red the necklace really gives off an earthy feel; looking richer. When wearing something so bold as a statement necklace, just remember to keep the rest of your look toned down. Earrings or bracelets shouldn't upstage your necklace. The trick to making a pop of color look classy when worn against white is simple- accessorize the rest of the outfit with neutrals. For instance, I paired brown wedges with a brown waist belt. These complement each other and pull the look together while cinching your waist in this cute dress style. Shirtdresses can often look boxy, so it really is important to show off your waist by belting it. Another fun take would be to use a bright colored waist belt. If you are going that route, just keep your jewelry and shoes neutral, so you can showcase the one pop of color making the outfit stand out.

Pop of health/fitness: Limit your alcohol intake to one drink a day; two or more can increase
your risk for dementia later in life.
