A black and white pattern looks more fresh for summer when highlighted with this season's ever popular cobalt blue. Bring some depth to the cooler color palette by donning some turquoise jewelry along with some rich metallics. Cinching the waist with a belt is a must when wearing this type of skirt, breaking up the patterns and color while keeping the maxi skirt from swallowing up your shape. Wearing brown and black together, as I've mentioned in previous posts, is simple as well- the most basic rule being wear the black in your top of bottom and sport the brown shade in your accessories (i.e. shoes, belts, jewelry). When paired this way, black acts as a brighter color, not a neutral. Make sure not to be too matchy-matchy with the colors in a simple black&white with a pop of color ensemble, as the statement stands for itself and anymore color (other than one complementary color in your jewelry) could look cheesy and distracting. Instead, opt for a neutral shoe, preferably a wedge if your skirt is long so you prevent any chance of tripping. This free-flowing look is perfect for concerts and other outdoor activities in the summer, because it is pulled together yet comfortable and not at all constricting in any way.

Pop of health/fitness: Burn fat with fruit. Pigments packed into cherries, blueberries, plums, and other bluish-red foods called anthocyanins block the storage of fat, plus switch on the genes that signal cells to burn belly fat for fuel, according to research in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. The study-proven dose: 1 cup of fresh or frozen fruit daily.
