How To Wear Tartan

Terrific in Tartan

Tartan is a trend I'm really getting into this holiday season. I recently purchased these tartan Gap loafers and red/blue tartan scarf. Since this season is all about matching two pieces, it's fun to keep it interesting with a fun print like this one!

I like Kate Spade's take on the tartan trend- adding unexpected colors like teal and spacing the pattern out makes for an interesting conversational piece in her shoulder bag.

Naturally, J Crew takes the cake with classic pieces like this "perfect shirt" in a tried-and-true navy/green color combo. Taking a cue from the master of preppiness, Zara created a lesser-priced version of J Crew's print with their tartan scarf this season.

I have to say though, one of my favorite's this season is Ralph Lauren's fur-embellished winter tartan jacket. I think it's wonderful how their pieces are going more "modern" lately. The large fur additional makes this bomber cozy and stylish without sacrificing their traditional bailiwick.

Thakoon's take is a bit more city-chic; adding quilted leather to a classic wool tartan skirt to create this Jackie O-glam shift dress.

Any way you slice it- this print's all over stores and is sure to stay hot into the cooler months!

So what do you think, would you sport tartan? What ways do you wear it?

  3. I'm not a big fan of the tartan bottoms, but a shirt I can do! Personally though, I'm looking for maybe a cute tartan scarf to add to my collection :) x

  5. I'm doing a 30 for 30 this month and two of my pieces are a bright red plaid shirt and tartan pants from Target. I'm already obsessed :) The Gap blazer and the Zara scarf are perfection.
